It's interesting that you should raise the historical context and Sharon Terry's story. The prologue to my book tells the story of Colmcille and the Battle of the Book in 1461 and one of the central themes (which I didn't include in the blog post) is that lay people and professionals can improve decision making processes by working more effectively together.
