Rationale and method
Dramatic Growth of Open Access Series
Items of interest since June 30, 2011
- added October 3 - July item from PLoS Blog, it's official 2010 was the first year PLoS was in the black! http://blogs.plos.org/plos/2011/07/2010-plos-progress-update/ This bodes very well for future growth of OA, especially with no price increases for article processing fees.
- Walters, W. H., & Linville, A. C. (2001). Characteristics of open access journals in six subject areas. College and Research Libraries, 72(4), 372-392. Retrieved from http://crl.acrl.org/content/72/4/372.abstract. Good analysis of English-language DOAJ journals. Understates growth of OA, based on an article by Sally Morris. See here for critique of this approach.
- Bhaskar Mukherjee and Mohammad Nazim have published "Open Access Institutional Archives: A Quantitative Study (2006-2010)" in the DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology.. Link to Charles Bailey's Digital Koans excerpt rather than article per se as I am not able to connect to the journal today.
